self portrait

In my physics lab we do things as lame as looking in mirrors and measuring reflections to as cool as building motors out of wire, paper, and magnets. Last week we built pinhole cameras and took pictures. This meant we made cameras out of coffe cans. With all of my knack for self portraits, I decided I had no choice but to expand my self-portrait skills into the pinhole area and photograph myself. Thinking about what I just wrote, I sound like I'm in love with myself. Don't worry, Sharon, I'm in love with you, not me.

This was my first and last attempt, with the picture on the left and negative on the right.

Pinhole camera self portrait
Ahh, what a cutie.

electricity

The other day in physics lecture, the professor was explaining about electromagnetic induction. It is the basic process where wires that are in a changing magnetic field produce an EMF, or electricity. In the lecture, I asked the professor why that happens. He said he had no idea and that no one in the world understands it, we just observe what happens and use it to our advantage.

Is that true? Do we really not udnerstand something so basic as this? I suppose it's probable, considering no one even knows why gravity works.

pizza (and how it relates to our kids)

Delicious Homemade Pizza and Hot Wife
What do you get when a newly married couple gets a pizza stone for their wedding? Pizza, obviously. And our first try even turned out pretty good! Although this is the second pizza we made. The first one wasn't quite as good, kind of ugly. We figure that's how it will be with our kids. The first kid will get all the genetic defects that we both have--my moles, Sharon's bad vision, etc. We'll name him Oompa or maybe Loompa. This is not to say anything about all first-borns being deficient, but just to say that if our babies are fashioned in the same manner as our pizza (a logical deduction), then the second and third will all around be far supperior.

Building Bridges

No metaphors here, this post is really about the bridge being built over the Hoover dam. Sharon and I drove to Las Vegas several weeks back and passsed this spectacle. I thought it was cool and figured there were enough nerds in this family to appreciate it. Hopefully no one dies, because on the original Hoover Dam, 112 people died in its construction.

Building the Hoover Dam Bridge
I took this one while driving. Yes, I'm a driving texter, a driving photographer, and I have a spotless driving record.
They should do an action movie where someone drives off the edge of this before they finish it. Bring the governator out of politics and back to holloywood or something.
Hoover Dam Bridge Construction. Hope the bridge meets up with it's other half
Gives me the weebies to think about working here on that.
Ah, my lovely wife at work with the camera.

Elevator in cliff
This is just a cool elevator going into the rock. Looks like the entrance to someone's home off of MTV Cribs, which I've actually never seen.

On a sidenote, feeling much better from mono!

And.......... we bought tickets to China! For under 1000 each, too. Killer. We're leaving June 30th after a day or two at the California beach trip, then getting back August 1st. Sweet! Sharon is way excited.

Weird dreams

Recently I always have weird dreams at nights: star wars, killing people and weird chinese wedding stuff, oh the ones I had last night were way more weird than anyone else.

Last night, I was supper tired, so I went to sleep on our futon, made Sam promise me to wake me up at 9:30 or 10pm, so I can read two papers that due today. But unfortunately, Sam faild to wake me up even though he tried really hard, even blew my belly a couple times. Around 11:30pm, when Sam was brushing his teeth and was ready to go to bed, I suddenly woke up and was so happy to brush my teeth to get ready for bed. Anyways, Sam's comment about that was "You're ridiculous!"

Back to my dream, started when my head touched the bed (Not sure actually ). I told Sam I cant breathe with him holding me. And then I just went right into my dream.... (I assume...)

In my dream, it was at night, there were some crazy creatures that liked to eat humans. They only came out at nights and went into people's hourses to search humans by their "breath" and eat them. If your breath is long and deap, you're dead. Because they have some weird detectors in their bodies, and they know right away by the long deap breath that there's a human in the room. I was awake all the nights in the dream, tried not to breathe all the way, so they wouldn't find me. And I was so scared that I don't want to fall asleep, because I know if I fell asleep, then I probably would breathe all the way and got eaten by the creatures. I held my breath in my dream and could even feel that in the real life my breath was incontinnuous too. After a long time in my dream, finally one day, I went to a chinese store and found some chinese people there. They told me that the creatures didn't eat chinese people, because we had some innate odor that the creatures were scared of. I was so so happy to hear that!!!!!! BUT just a couple mins later, they told me, I didn't have that odor anymore. I was mad, and yelled at them "Why?! That's unfair!" Then, they laughed, and told me "Did you just sleep with an american guy?" And I think I woke up after I heard that.... :)

Then I fell asleep again, and another dream started in the chinese store. I found out that my mom worked in that store, but my dad was gone. I asked my mom where my dad went, but was always answered by silence. The manager of the store was a weird old man who always had a weird smile. He forced my mom to do a lot of hard work and I seemed to not be able to help at all. Then, after a while, I found out that my dad was killed and buried under the floor of the store. And everything was so weird, I don't know anything happened after that...

In china, some people believe that your dreams mean to tell you something in the real life, we call that superstition. Think about it and tell me.... Just kidding :)
