Finishing our Texas bucket list

Here's a bunch of photos that we never got around to posting from Houston. Some of these are on facebook but a blog is a much better scrapbook so I wanted to get them on here. Before we left we wanted to see as much of Houston that we could while I had time in my 4th year of med school.

We purchased a membership to NASA and went several times

We went to the art car musuem. Was bummed we couldn't make it to the actual art car parade

They give free tours of Houston's port system, which was really fun to ride the boat and see all the commercial liners

We discovered our favorite park the last 6 months in Houston

We went to San Antonio, stayed in a somewhat fancy hotel, visited the Alamo, saw the largest boots in the World, had fun at a fun bunny park, saw the famous river walk, and we went to a famous hamburger place (Fatty's I think?) where I had an ice cream cheeseburger

This was a glass blowing factory that let you watch. Beautiful art and it was fun to watch

We didn't get to do everything on our bucket list, such as we didn't do some cool hikes in Austin and we never made it out to Big Bend National Park or South Padre Island. We didn't do it all but I'm glad for everything we did try to do.

Sam's 29th birthday!

Sam just had his 29th birthday! I made his an amazing breakfast, includes pancakes, sausages, bacon, eggs, and a fruit salad. BTW, Sam has just started a 3 week long Gluten-Free diet to see if it helps with his stomach issue. So everything we ate on his birthday was Gluten Free. This will be something special to remember! 

Another special thing to remember is that Sam bought me a new bike for his birthday gift, because he wanted to take me to the "fantasy island". How often do you get expensive gifts on somebody else's birthday????? It only happens at our house! I am one spoiled wife ;)

After Breakfast, we went to Enoch and Michael's soccer game. Dad rode bike to Purple Heart Park to join us and to watch Enoch and Michael play. They did great! 

Mom and dad came over for a family birthday dinner at our house. (We missed Alison, Brandon Russell and William, but they were on our minds during dinner. Love you!) I made a gluten free flourless chocolate cake with expensive gluten free chocolate chips. Ha ;) Did I tell you everything gluten-free is expensive?? Not even sure if we can afford doing it for the rest of our lives if we have to. 

After dinner, mom watched the boys for us and Sam and I went to "The Mikado" opera show at UA theater. I was prepared to not understand most of it, but turned out to understand the story really well. So that was a really nice turn-out. 

The next Week, our friends watched our boys for us while we went on a bike ride with my new bike. Finally Sam got what he asked for for his birthday!
